SPEAKERS
Keynote Speaker: Paul M. King is Director, Environmental Health and Safety for Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. He was formerly the Executive Director for the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice (www.ipep.org), Director of the Certificate Program in Environmental Law, Science and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, an environmental management consultant and an environmental attorney. He previously held environmental management and environmental law positions with PPG Industries, Inc. including Corporate Director Environment, Health and Safety and Corporate Counsel Environment Health and Safety.
He holds a B.S. degree in business administration from Duquesne University and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Mr. King is a member and chair of the Allegheny County Board of Health and is a member of the Environmental Committees of the American, Pennsylvania (currently a member of Section Council) and Allegheny County Bar Associations. He has served as an adjunct professor of environmental management at Duquesne University’s Environmental Science and Management Program and as an adjunct professor of environmental law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law for 20 years. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
Mr. King is currently serves as chairman of the Board of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and Enterprising Environmental Solutions, Inc. He is a member of the Board of McGuire Memorial (currently serving as treasurer), which provides comprehensive services to people with physical and mental disabilities. Mr. King is environmental Ombudsman for Koppers Industries, Inc. and is chairman of the Advisory Board of the Duquesne University Environmental Science and Management program and a member of the board of 3 Rivers Wet Weather, Inc., which helps communities address existing sewer overloading and overflow problems.
Mr. King is a Past President of the Air & Waste Management Association, a past chairman of the Chemical Manufacturers Association's Environmental Management Committee. He was a recipient of the Pa Bar Association Environmental Law Committee award for distinguished service to the profession in 2002 and the Catholic Charities Caritas Award for service as a Champion of Justice in 2003.
